Glass Fusion with Kate Dowd

Students will gain an understanding of what glass fusing is and what materials and processes are involved in fusing over a five part series.  Students will be introduced to the tools and techniques used in glass cutting before having the opportunity to design their own piece.  Designing involves sketching and coloring on paper before it is translated onto glass tiles.  Cut and assembled pieces will be fired in a kiln while an explanation of the kiln process will be described.  Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their pieces before a quick Q&A and cleanup.

Fun With Plastics with Michal Sparks

This class explores the many creative uses of the common plastic bag (grocery store, bread, candy wrappers, etc.).  Students will learn basic fusing techniques then expand into collage, printing with found objects, and finally creating finished pieces.  Sewing instruction can also be offered to help students who wish to incorporate form into their pieces.

Ages 10 and up Class supplies will initially be provided however students will be asked to discover and collect plastic bags from their home and community to promote an awareness of the environmental affects of plastics.

Assemblage Sculpture with Lisa Bagwell

Learn to consider your trash worthy of a greater destiny! Students will learn how common objects designated for the dump can be turned into a work of art.  Prepare to get hands-on instruction with trash in this two to three hour class
